Spring Cleaning My Daughters Room

My daughter and I have a different version of what clean is. She stacks things- I do this also but there comes a point where you just have to get in there and get it cleaned. The trash bag is clothes I had cleaned over the weekend that are all nicely folded but I couldn't begin to know where to put them away for her.
We had the boys bring all the containers to my room that had clothes in them. I sorted them into piles on my quilting tables and then filled her buckets. I would still like her to go through them and decide if things are too big or two small or if she doesn't like them. We were given clothes from several people this year and it has created a tad of chaos, unless she makes some decisions. Its hard in such a small room to really keep everything and she has no closet space since there is a washer and dryer in that portion of her room so it must ALL fit under the bed to some degree.
She still has quite a bit of work to do. I am hoping that I at least gave her a head start and maybe some motivation.
It will be nice when the room is clean because then I can get in there to take measurements for curtains, paint her vanity etc.

Combat Bait System Giveaway

I received this Combat Bait Strip System.  I love the new concept of the bait strips. Instead of the boxes like they used to have they have these really easy strips that can be put just about anywhere. I love that they are also able to be hidden. They are very easy to put up. I like that I can put them in the upper cabinet area and that they are out of the way of kids, where I sweep etc. The nice thing about Combat is that it only takes one ant or roach to go into the bait system and they then take that back to the location of all the other ants or roaches to kill them off. That makes for a very nice Roach and Ant Control system.
Combat is also offering a sweepstakes for $1000 It is for  a Visa Gift Card.
With this Giveaway Combat will send the winner the system directly. I will not be sending a coupon to you.
It may take a couple of weeks to receive it once you have won.

Soft Scrub 4 in One Toilet Care Giveaway

Toilets- it is a chore that no one in my house likes to do. I love this new soft scrub product. As you can see from the picture it hooks to the toilet on the side. Then you forget it and leave it. No scrubbing necessary. That is my idea of cleaning how about yours?
It cleans the toilet, it prevents future build up, it fights toilet ring and it freshens for up to 4 weeks. I went to see how much Walmart asks for this product it is under $2, a pretty good deal.
I think my favorite thing is the rim hanger which easily fit over my very wide rim too.
Softscrub will be hosting a New Soft Scrub 4-in-1 Toilet Care sweepstakes where you have the chance of winning:
Grand Prize Winner: $1000
250 additional winners will receive one Soft Scrub coupon for a free product.

Bean Bags and More Bean Bags

Magnolia, Texas's 20th Annual Depot Day is coming up and I made 25 bean bags for the Carnival Games that my husband and I made. It was quite a bit of work but a lot of fun. First I made the shells- I stitched three sides, filled them with 2 cups of beans and sealed the last edge
I made sure all the edges were sealed then cut the polka dot fabric for the outside fabric. I sewed the first three edges of those, then my daughter helped me stuff them, which was nice because it cut some time down. Then I folded the last edge inside and stitched it closed with a zig zag stitch
I think they came out super cute don't you?

New Renovations in Store

I wanted to find a vanity for my daughter for her birthday. She had a little sewing table that I wasn't using but it didn't have any storage options. Someone in my neighborhood was giving this away and I am going to fix it up for her later next month, when things calm down. She wants it to be white with turquoise drawers. She wants me to find wolf pulls, drawer knobs for it and make a wolf fabric seat cushion for the foldable chair. We have a piece of mirror that my husband will frame for the wall that his brother in law gave us. What a great early birthday find.

Oldest Son's Quilt

I finally finished my oldest son's quilt this weekend. I am glad that I did, it was a nice surprise for him to come home from his State Competition for Skills USA this weekend where he won 3rd place against 26 students- to a bed with clean sheets, a new quilt and a new pillowcase that I had made.
My husband had picked out a Simpson's TV Show fabric for the back. My oldest son did not like it. So I picked out this blue flannel from my stash- its interesting that the other Tshirt quilt I made him (my very first one) has the same exact backing. The binding on the quilt is also blue.
I love this one shirt- it was the back. It truly explains my son and how hard he works for everything he has and will have in the future. Recently I had sent pictures to a coach of my middle son running Track. She said that she is appreciates the work ethic we instill in our children and that they could all three be poster children for their Cross Country/Track Motto that says Hard Work = Success

Zekaryah's Quilt

I finally finished my son's Birthday gift from January which then became a Valentines Day gift, and then an Easter gift.. even that was late. It is a twin size quilt with 12 Tshirts

He picked out the green mossy water fabric and my husband and I found the green tree moss flannel for the back. We combined the layers with a handmade cotton blue binding because that is his second favorite color. He loves the quilt and can't wait to use it tonight.

Rough Days

It seems like I have rough days pretty frequently lately. Enough so that it makes me evaluate what I am going through. I did take a couple days off subbing this week. I am honest with my husband and he said he hadn't really noticed. I am trying to make sure I don't skip meals. This morning I got up and actually cooked for everyone. I made an effort to wash some clothes, clean the bathroom and shower. I hope to finally finish a quilt I have had in progress for months now, later this afternoon. I wish it would just go away. I don't know why it grabs a hold like this. I know my God is bigger than all this non sense though and am thankful for the knowledge that this too shall pass. Photobucket

Recent Quilt I have finished in 2013

I love the heart, button flannel

This quilt was made for a friends daughter. It has a pretty light blue floral print border and hot pink binding

A 70 by 70 quilt made for a husbands 30th birthday. It has a pretty charcoal gray flannel backing

A oversized lap quilt made with baby clothes from a childs first year

A twin size quilt with blue fabrics and a pretty blue paisley butterfly flannel on the back. Its a gift for a principal that is retiring.

Twin size Spring Summer quilt. Customer sent me the fabrics and I created a really nice lightweight quilt.

This quilt is 70 by 70 it was made for a Pastor here in Texas. I was honored to make this quilt.

This is a graduation quilt I just finished for a current senior in High School. I did a little extra on this one because I wanted to give her a nicer quilt so it became a twin size quilt instead of another 70 by 70 16 T quilt. It holds 20 Tshirts and 6 appliques.

This quilt was very challenging. It was several early years of clothing of a little girl in addition to a crib sheet. I am thankful it turned out well and the little girl loved it. It is twin size.

Depot Day Carnival Games

The city I live in has a Depot Day every year. This is the 20th annual event and I am chairing it. I came up with the idea of old fashioned carnival games that the kids could play. These are some my husband and I created. I had a couple friends help with the painting. This one was done by my son's friend from High School.

She also drew and painted this one. Very cute. It will work for a bean bag toss or a photo op for younger children.

A few of the local schools are going to sponsor a game. That is exciting. I love community involvement.

This is one of my favorites. I hope to make some yellow and red bean bags for the game and have some painted cans to knock down

This one we will probably cut a hole in the blue portion and then use waffle balls to throw through

You should see how big this truly is. It will work great with some Bean Bags.

This is for a dum dum pull. We need to drill the holes still.

This one is for a Ring Toss, it will have a stand and then be in a bucket of sand.

This is a Ring Toss game. It will be lots of fun also.

St Patricks Day 2013

Its nice to see even our oldest enjoying the parade. He brings his music along since the loud noise bother him.

Getting good photos of all three kiddos can be difficult but I love this one!

Waiting for the parade to start. We have gone every year for nearly their entire lives. My husband went to this same parade on St Patricks Day when he was a child.

I love that he was having fun. I was home working on a quilt order I had to get out.

So many people attend and they throw out lots of beads.

The last few years they have gone to my husbands brothers for dinner after. Its a nice way to get together.
