Graduation Quilt for College

Another very understanding customer this summer. She needed a quilt by August 1st and sent me the shirts right away. I had so many issues. I went through two sewing machines~
My first machine I had for 3 years, I truly loved it, it died out. Then I had to order another machine. I ordered the same one, I had it a couple weeks and it had issues. I had to mail it back. Then I ordered a replacement machine, same one, it went on backorder then it was canceled it was such a pain. So I had to do hours of research when it seemed like they were all pulled from the market. I had to decide on a new machine. I was pretty upset. It arrived a week later and its been pretty good so far. I am thankful I could complete the quilt in time and her child loved it!
I love the burgundy maroon binding on it. I don't always recommend that though, you never know if it might bleed with those white shirts.  You can find more like this one in my ETSY shop.

Fathers Memory Quilt

While I was in the hospital with my husband orders started to come in through my ETSY page
I was so incredibly thankful for the Lords immediate provision as we tried to figure out how we were going to manage with him out of work for 3 months. I wrote customers immediately and explained there would be a delay and why. They were all so incredible about the circumstances and still placed orders.
This quilt was with a father's clothing who had passed. I love the patriotic flannel backing.

Trendy Tshirt Quilt

I love this turqoiuse teal fabric. I think it was the perfect fit for this Camo/ FFA style of graduate.
The brown flannel backing was the perfect combination too.

Elementary School TeeShirt Quilts

Wow sometimes adding that colored binding really helps a quilt "POP"
I love how this one turned out. Its nice and simple with 12 T shirts. It has black border fabric that is a tone on tone cotton with gray tie dyed flannel and a bright green cotton handmade binding. I think he is going to love this gift~

Appreciation Plaques

There is a Staff Leader Appreciation tonight at the Children's Student Ministry Youth Group Service tonight. There is a list of over 30 adults that assist with activities in the Jr. High and Sr. High groups on Wednesday nights. The students wrote letters etc for them to be included in a basket/bag for each leader to be given by the Youth Pastor. Zekaryah wanted to do plaques for each one. It turned out to be a pretty good undertaking but he was able to make them for 8 of the leaders, one of which is the youth pastor.
He is really loving making things out of wood, metal etc. I can't wait to see how he continue to perfect gifts like these in the future. There was a learning curve on this one, such as centering the names, how much heat to apply to get the "burned" look, maybe having the money to purchase oak wood or some cedar.
I think for the first time around he did an amazing job. Hopefully they can find a use for them, in the garden, on a shop wall, or in their homes. We certainly appreciate all the time they volunteer to be part of the kids lives.

Last Minute Christmas Orders

Every year I get those last minute orders that I try my best to fit in to my schedule
These two made the list since they just had 12 shirts and I could do them in the last week of my orders and still get them in the mail in time. They both wrote back and thanked me and gave great reviews.

More Graduation Quilts

Even though Tshirt quilts are similar they are very different. Fabric truly helps set them apart
I love these 12 shirt quilts, they are pretty quick to put together and they make the perfect gift

I really love this fabric. It worked really well with the shirts of this order
I was able to take some special pieces and applique them
like this cute little pocket. I love the binding for this quilt as well
Turned out perfectly

Valentines Day

I am a practical girl, my husband is finally truly understanding this. I desperately needed this dutch oven type pan. I had one years ago but it fell apart- it was  set that I had in college. While I didn't get a new set I did get this one pan that I know I will use a ton! He also replaced the waffle iron because it broke during the middle of a birthday dinner for Zekaryah. I was actually going to give this as a Father's Day gift but he beat me to it.
Zekaryah bought me these beautiful roses with his own money- super sweet. He called from a friends house to make sure I noticed them on the table before I headed out to dog sit for a friend who had to go out of town.

Quilt Tops and Weekend Projects

Pez Candy Quilt top finished. This customer came to me with a quilt project her and her mom were working on together. The Pez candy was something that her and her son have in common. Her mother has passed away and she decided she would hire me to do the task. She said her mother was an avid quilter so I sure hope my quilt will meet the test. I would not call my self avid. I am still learning for sure.
This was another quilt top I finished this weekend. I love this story too. Its a valentines gift that a girl friend is giving her boyfriend. What a sweet gift with all his shirts!

Variable Quilt with Tshirts

These quilts seem to be a new addition to my store front and a unique experience for me as a quilter. They do cost a little more than the traditional tshirt quilt I create but the customers sure do love the unique look of their quilts. I have creative license in most cases and just piece according to all the t shirts they send so that the blocks are more random.
This customer had some tshirts with some larger designs and then some that were tank tops or maybe just had small graphic designs on the front, so that allowed me to create some units that would go together.
In this quilt the top and bottom are very similar and then the middle section is also the same, so you basically have three units to create the whole quilt.
This customer wanted the same cotton fabric on the front and back and she wanted something very plain.
This was my first order to Hawaii, I was a little nervous, I have seen some BEAUTIFUL quilts there through photos. The customer wrote to tell me the quilt was Adorable. I love that...

January Quilt Orders

Back in December I had a request for 6 Vanderbilt Quilts for a customer for her 2 nieces and 4 nephews. I was unable to accomplish them in December but she was good with having them by the end of January. These quilts are always a little more challenging because they require more backing so when you have so many orders you have to purchase flannel online- i needed 24 yards! Then another challenge was this crazy weather and being able to pin the quilts outside. Thankfully we had a warmer day and I took advantage of it and pinned them all in one day. That was a lot of work. I think its really neat to see how they all are similar yet very different too. I hope they love their gifts!
