More Graduation Quilts

Even though Tshirt quilts are similar they are very different. Fabric truly helps set them apart
I love these 12 shirt quilts, they are pretty quick to put together and they make the perfect gift

I really love this fabric. It worked really well with the shirts of this order
I was able to take some special pieces and applique them
like this cute little pocket. I love the binding for this quilt as well
Turned out perfectly

Local Teacher Quilt Order with Tshirts

This order was for a queen size Tshirt quilt as well as two pillowcases with extra logos
I love teachers so this quilt meant a lot to me. They are a special kind of being.
She chose a really pretty blue leaf flannel for the back, the picture doesn't do it justice
The black fabric for the front was so pretty.
The pillowcases were very unique

Graduation T Shirt Quilt

Graduation Quilts keep me pretty busy in the spring time. I love seeing the unique shirts of every order
Sometimes it works great to combine shirts when they don't have much writing on them.

The End of January Quilt Orders

Pez Candy Quilt- this is a quilt that my customer was making with her mother and she passed away. It is a quilt of memories between her and her son. I am honored she chose me for this special quilt.
I found this cute backing that looked like little pez candies, it was nice and colorful and matched her front fabrics well.
Here is a closeup of her fabrics. Super cute.
This is a quilt a girlfriend had made for her boyfriend for Valentines Day.

Quilt Tops and Weekend Projects

Pez Candy Quilt top finished. This customer came to me with a quilt project her and her mom were working on together. The Pez candy was something that her and her son have in common. Her mother has passed away and she decided she would hire me to do the task. She said her mother was an avid quilter so I sure hope my quilt will meet the test. I would not call my self avid. I am still learning for sure.
This was another quilt top I finished this weekend. I love this story too. Its a valentines gift that a girl friend is giving her boyfriend. What a sweet gift with all his shirts!

Variable Quilt with Tshirts

These quilts seem to be a new addition to my store front and a unique experience for me as a quilter. They do cost a little more than the traditional tshirt quilt I create but the customers sure do love the unique look of their quilts. I have creative license in most cases and just piece according to all the t shirts they send so that the blocks are more random.
This customer had some tshirts with some larger designs and then some that were tank tops or maybe just had small graphic designs on the front, so that allowed me to create some units that would go together.
In this quilt the top and bottom are very similar and then the middle section is also the same, so you basically have three units to create the whole quilt.
This customer wanted the same cotton fabric on the front and back and she wanted something very plain.
This was my first order to Hawaii, I was a little nervous, I have seen some BEAUTIFUL quilts there through photos. The customer wrote to tell me the quilt was Adorable. I love that...

January Quilt Orders

Back in December I had a request for 6 Vanderbilt Quilts for a customer for her 2 nieces and 4 nephews. I was unable to accomplish them in December but she was good with having them by the end of January. These quilts are always a little more challenging because they require more backing so when you have so many orders you have to purchase flannel online- i needed 24 yards! Then another challenge was this crazy weather and being able to pin the quilts outside. Thankfully we had a warmer day and I took advantage of it and pinned them all in one day. That was a lot of work. I think its really neat to see how they all are similar yet very different too. I hope they love their gifts!

Graduation Quilts May 2013

This is a son's graduation quilt. He graduates from High School with top honors this month and will attend a local state school. I am hoping he loves his twin size bed quilt.
I used a blue cotton fabric for the border and the same fabric for the binding. The backing is a cotton black scroll print that matches the same print on the front. I love how this quilt turned out. It is nice and comfy yet lightweight.
This is a daughter's graduation quilt. This one made me a little homesick for my dad. I remember going to San Diego as a kid a few times. I did a couple of special things for this one. It included an appliqued tank top onto a red Tshirt back, the tank was thin and very small. Then it included an initial block on the bottom corner. This is a returning customer and she had this same idea put on her daughter's friends quilt last year.
The front is a nice red that is a little darker than the shirts with a scroll print. I used a tiny delicate leaf print in red for the handmade binding and the back is a cotton black scroll print that matches the front. It is also very lightweight and cozy. This one only included 12 shirts which is actually much easier to do for a twin size quilt then the 15.
