Tackling the House and a Quilt

This morning my bible study focused on Simplicity. Sometimes its hard to keep things simple. I assigned some chores to each child and had them pitch in because I had bills to pay, a to do list to write up for the weekend and a quilt to work on. I know they weren't terribly thrilled but we got a lot done.
I will get a better picture later but here is the progress on the quilt. It still needs some little pieces and such. I had to run to Joann's to get flannel for the back. What I ordered was not flannel after all and its really what is perfect for a baby quilt. It will be a pieced backing like one other I finished up recently. I couldn't' find enough of just one. I think it will fit just fine though. While we were out I picked up a much needed shower liner, some office supplies and a new shirt.

We made laundry soap. I taught Jakob how to do it. It is one way I will be trying to cut down on some bills. We go through lots of laundry soap.

Mekenzei worked at cleaning out the video/catch all cabinet in the front room. She organized all the drawers and cleaned the top off.

Izzy worked in the yard leveling out some soil area where we used to have a garden

Zekaryah worked out side a while then decided to get on the horse. I caught him playing not working.

More Time for Mom Giveaway from Purex

I love a good giveaway and you will love this one too. You can go enter using this link, its a simple entry via facebook on Purex's site   I don't know about you but since school started I seem to have little time these days. This is a giveaway for moms- ways to give "More Time for Moms"
  • Oct. 16 – 22:
    Cosmetics Shopping Spree
Something we tend to put on the back burner is cosmetics. Its so easy to pull your hair in a ponytail and head out the door when life gets busy. This would be a great way to put something special back into your days..
  • Oct. 23 – 29:
    Scrapbooking Shopping Spree
I know with all three of my kids in High school we have really been paying attention to getting lots of photos lately. Scrapbooking is a great way to preserve those memories. My oldest is a senior and he actually has to create a Memoir book as a project for English. I love the idea- you have to collect 5 tangible items every 9 weeks, compile funny things that are said or quotes from books etc. Scrapbooking is a great way to look back on the memories.
Oct. 30 – Nov. 5:

Home Décor Shopping Spree
This is something I wanted to do for my birthday this year- to me Home Decor would mean my bedroom. I quilt in our bedroom and I would love to make it a romantic space as well as a work space. This would be a great thing to win so that I could accomplish that. How would you use your Home Decor Shopping Spree.

    • Nov. 6 – 12:
      New Wardrobe Shopping Spree
We could all use new clothes, lately I have been working hard to tone up so that some of my clothes will even fit. This time of year I am thinking of jeans and sweaters, the weather is perfect for those new additions.

    • Nov. 13 – 19:
      Kindle Fire!
Now this is a great Christmas item so if you won this you could keep it for yourself or you could place it under the tree for a loved one. I have three teenagers that would love this!
Each weekly grand prize winner will also receive a FREE year’s supply of Purex liquid detergent. 2nd place winners each week will receive a Kindle eReader. Enter today for a chance to WIN, and enjoy some quality time for YOU!

Laundry soap is something I go through a lot of, I could very easily find a way to use a years worth and be super happy!

Kick Back and Play Summer Sweepstakes

Kick Back and Play Summer Sweepstakes is LIVE!

I don't know about your family but we do a LOT of laundry in our house. A new Washer and Dryer and a possibility of having a year's worth of Purex in our home would really help us out. I feel like I am never quite through with all the wash that we do every week. The washer and Dryer is from LG- it is a front loading machine and values at $2800. The Laundry soap by Purex values at $126.

This week part of our field trip was the park. We stopped by there after eating lunch. I think about the kids as they have grown up and how much time we spent at the park when they were younger. They loved being able to play for hours. It hasn't changed much now that they are teenagers either.

      Little Tikes

Endless Adventures® Playcenter Playground is a wonderful playground that someone could win. It is worth nearly $1300.

A backyard swing set with the features of large playground equipment! The Endless Adventures® Playcenter Playground features swings, a large kids sliding board, sandbox, cargo net and more. This stylish swing set looks good in any backyard and kids will love the endless number of things to do.
I think of all the days I spend on the playground during my lifeskills subbing for work. The children love the playground. It would be a wonderful gift to a school or local family that needed a fun spot for their children.

Purex Natural Elements Tropical Splash Detergent Coupon Giveaway

Purex Natural Elements has a delightful smell and I you could win one of three coupons to try it yourself!
I think this is the best detergent smell for my quilts and sheets. I love the smell when it comes out of the wash and onto my bed. It seems like I don't get much sleep these days but one thing that is very important to me every night is my bedding. We have two dogs and they sleep with us at night so sadly I change our bedding two to three times a week. It also means that I need a detergent that will get that bedding clean.  This detergent is hypoallergenic and dye free, that is a huge blessing to me since I suffer from eczema. This time of year that rash and dryness becomes a bigger issue. The strong winds every day, the change in season.. I find my skin is more sensitive then ever and the detergent I wash my clothes and sheets with is highly important so that I don't further irritate my skin and allergies.

      Purex Ultra Pack Giveaway

I love reviewing products. This is another one from Purex. It is the same product as in the Triple Action liquid detergent but it is in a pre-dosed square. Very similar in idea to Cascade and their dish washing soaps. This is a great idea for when my children do laundry. I can trust that they will get in the right amount of soap because it is all pre-measured. It is also great for times when we go camping because I do not have to pack an entire bottle of laundry soap, I can just stick this is a zip-lock and we are ready to go. It takes up less space and I do not have to worry about it leaking everywhere. It really did have the same exact cleaning capabilities. I was not disappointed at all. Once again I did opt to get the Free and Clear so that I didn't have to worry about what was washed in the soap. I really love that Purex supports us families that have allergies by always having Free of Dye and Perfume products available.
Here is some information about their new product.
Give it a try you will love it.

      What are Purex® UltraPacks™?
      • New Purex UltraPacks are convenient pre-dosed liquid
detergent packs that make doing laundry easier than ever.
      • Purex UltraPacks manage to squeeze all the performance
of our new Triple Action liquid formula into just one
      powerful pack.
      • Finally…No more mess. No more spills. No more heavy
      jugs. It’s Laundry Simplified.®
      • Each Purex UltraPack contains powerful 2x concentrated
liquid detergent, giving each UltraPack double
the cleaning power in every drop*.
      • Purex UltraPacks dissolve quickly once the washer is
      started—even in cold water.
      • Purex UltraPacks are formulated and safe for all
      machines, including high-efficiency (HE).

      For Best Results
      • Dry your hands before handling the UltraPacks – water
      dissolves the film.
      • Put (1) pack in the washer before adding clothing
(the more time they spend in the water, the faster
they dissolve). For larger or heavily soiled loads, use
      an additional pack.
      • If you have a front loader, make sure to put the pack
directly into the drum, not in the drawer.

If you would like to enter my giveaway for a free coupon please do so by using the Rafflecopter.
