Tackle it Tuesday

Ragged Potholder
My tackle it Tuesday for this week- posting late since yesterday was so busy. I have a friend who ordered some quilts from me, some of the clothing was denim, sweatshirts etc. She asked if I could make one of the quilts a rag quilt. I didn't really know how to do that. I attempted it by making myself a potholder out of a pair of jeans and some material I had. I learned it is really hard to get a good picture of how ragged it turned out.

I think that it turned out really cute, it is a long process but I am hopeful that I can make a nearly twin quilt this way. I figure it will all be clothing. I can use the sweatshirts as the batting, the tshirts/leggings as backing and the denim as the front. The hardest part is the ragging itself, it takes a while and then the several washings. This could have used to have been washed probably one more time. I still have to make the second one, because I really will use this back side up for potholders. It is good to have come up with something that I can show as a sample, that will be something I can use too.

  1. I like those! By the way, I wanted to ask you if you want to join me on doing a 40 bags in 40 days challenge. I saw it on a blog. We start today and have 40 days to get stuff out of our home by using either trash, recycling, donating, yard sale, ebay, consignment, etc... I am starting today with some recycling and getting some things ready for consignment.
