Proverbs and Beds

She makes quilts for herself. Her clothes are made of linen and purple cloth....Proverbs 31:22
I saw this post on Facebook today from Raising Homemakers.com. I had to laugh because I will admit bedmaking around here does not always happen. I do sleep much better though when I have clean sheets, a freshly made bed and a dark room. Sometimes I forget how important it is to have a well made bed. I have been asking for a new quilt for my bed for a year now. It is falling apart. We just can't seem to find one that I like and that I am willing to pay for. The one on it now was only $20 at Garden Ridge and I am in love with the colors.
I am thinking of making a huge Tshirt Quilt for my husbands 40th birthday though, its in June, so I am not sure if I will get around to buying a quilt before then.
I have gradually been working at making each of my children their own quilt for their beds and I wanted to make sure that I get Mekenzei a hope chest for her room, hopefully for this birthday. I want there to be a quilt in it for her to treasure. The first made one will probably be something for a wall and out of my mom's clothing.
It is interesting that this has been placed on my heart so heavily, and then I read this post.
I really do strive to be a Proverbs 31 woman. I tend to fall very short though- for example my house is far from clean and beds are rarely made but are slept in. Might have to see about putting more effort in this. I think the Lord is definitely speaking to my heart on the importance of this issue.

  1. I have also been wanting a new quilt for my bed. Ours is 4 years old, and I love it. I am just ready for a change. Sometimes I pull out an old quilt and change it, but this one makes it back to the bed by the end of the day. I want to have a quilt made for my sons' bed by his birthday in November. I thought about you the other day. This will take some work on my part to collect the shirts.
