“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
Matthew 6:19-21
For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul?
Matthew 16:26
But if anyone has the world's goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God's love abide in him?
1 John 3:17
Sell your possessions, and give to the needy. Provide yourselves with moneybags that do not grow old, with a treasure in the heavens that does not fail, where no thief approaches and no moth destroys.
Luke 12:33
Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
Matthew 6:31-33
I shared this idea with my husband tonight and he would like to join in, his will be focused on the yard, shed, carport etc.. where mine will be focused on the inside of our home. I am a couple days behind to have 40 bags by Easter but I am sure the first few days we will have more than just one a day. What is really nice is by Easter our house will be more simplified allowing for this summer to provide for an ability to do things like painting, replacing windows, remodeling some rooms. I love the idea of donating as much as we can, in order to help others, after 16 years we have acquired quite a bit of stuff. I will probably tackle each bag in the evening and post the following day. So feel free to join in, and live more simply.
Thanks for posting this! I am going to link my blog over to here!
