Sunday Moments January

I am so thankful for today's sermon at church. I have been working hard at simplifying life and relying on the Lord more. It is hard to not feel discouraged at times. I have felt very alone and depressed lately. I have been finding myself spending more time in my devotion just pouring over what I am reading and my prayers. I think mainly I felt disconnected from my husband. We both work so incredibly hard to provide for the kids that it leaves little time for ourselves. Today I was talking about just that as we thought we were going to have to cancel plans to get away for our anniversary. The timing and money just weren't working out. We came home and he wanted to till in the garden. I found myself sink to an all new level of depression. I just wanted to spend time with him. I knew he needed to till. He had worked a side job yesterday morning and then we had things to do and he helped me clean, we had gone and picked up quilting fabric and something from Walmart. Then this morning we went to church, then he had the game, then we had to run kids back to church and then there was my current moment. So he suggested I find some comfy clothes and join him outside. That meant not working on my quilt or cleaning inside, but I would be spending time with him, which is what I was complaining about. So he taught me to use the tiller. Boy is it a workout. It was fun though. We got a lot done and then we were able to pick up kids from church/band and have dinner then drive my daughter to her friends. He had a little time so we got one more thing off my list and the rest of that list goes to tomorrow. It all worked out but I have to remember to stop and take a deep breath, realize that there are days were getting it all done is not possible and that if I need time with him I need to ask, he can't read my mind.
We didn't use this part of the garden last year so it had not been tilled yet. We found TONS of rocks and limbs/roots in it. It was a lot of work.

He had a little section in the middle about 5 rows worth that I did. He caught a picture at the end because I was getting exhausted~

Between the two of us we got it all done. He left the row of okra, not sure if it will produce anymore and then the pepper plants that are still blooming from our summer/fall crop. We have mulch, manure and such to add to it, but this is a good first till for our Spring/Summer garden, which I pray is more successful then last year.

Lemonade Award

Today Rita from Following 31 gave me the Lemonade Award for my Fridays Post on "What Am I Learning Friday." I wrote about taking time for one another. I have just started this Blog "Growth in God" and within a week had to put it on hold just a bit because of a death in the family, and then recovering my household from being gone a week. It is amazing what us moms get done and how when we are gone things get all out of sorts. This week I still am trying to recover as my family has been hit with a virus. My oldest is home recovering from a fever of 103.4 from last night, and I have that throat, ear, eye thing going on. So this was a very Blessed Award and I am ever grateful. I appreciate everyone who reads my posts and that it blesses or encourages them in some way.

There are some rules to this award so let me post those...

1. Put the logo on your blog or post.

2. Nominate at least 10 blogs that show attitude and/or gratitude.

3. Be sure to link to your nominees within your post.

4. Let them know they have received this award by commenting on a post.

5. Nominate your favorites and link to this blog.
I must admit that I do not have 10 Blogs to Nominate, but I do have a few.
I hope you will visit these blogger's, it is amazing what we can learn from one another, how we can be encouraged and inspired in fellowship with one another.
As for me personally for Growth In God, I hope to be back up and running soon. It is exhausting being sick while caring for members of my house who are sick, but God has some amazing healing powers- I can't complain as I have an excuse to watch movies with the kids and spend some one on one time with them. Down time is nice.

What Are You Learning Friday?

I read a Blog from Chats with an Old Lady. Since I have just started this Blog this week I wanted to start this Friday with something she does called What Are You Learning Friday? Here is the link to her site, if you would like to see where this oriented from. I have a feeling you may see this on many Blogger sites soon, as it will spread and people will want to participate for themselves. http://chatswithanoldlady.blogspot.com/

This week my goal has been to share how important it is to remember to live in today. Not yesterday where we can have regrets over what has not been finished, what we did, what, what...., or the future where we can live in fear over whatever, or anxiety etc... But today. Today is the day that God wants us to be with Him. To read His Word, To Pray to Him, to walk with Him daily in order for Him to speak to us, teach us, love us and strengthen us. He also wants to bestow many Blessings on us. To help us through our daily troubles and continue to guide us so that we are walking in His ways. I also tried to point out a few of the 7000 promises God gives us in his Word, the Bible. I also started writing to remind us of a few things.
That the Light we receive from God, his Inspiration is gained through these acts by us
Daily Reading in His Word- not just a bible study but even a single chapter of the bible, or study on something from the bible- digging deeper into a verse etc.
Daily Writing- journaling. For example from what spoke to you while you read about His Word, or a promise of God that you want to claim for yourself. Even writing about things you are grateful for, that you want to Pray Thanksgiving for, or things you want to and need to lay at His Feet.
Daily Meditation - example memorizing something of God's Word. This week I chose a verse that I had personally heard in church. It was from Isaiah 43: 18-19
"Forget the former things, do not dwell on the past. See,I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wastelands."
Lastly Daily Application- how you will apply His word and your learning to your life.
So this Friday I have learned much as I continue to read personally and share with you each day. I will continue our reading and writing together in the next post with today's Reading and Message. I appreciate you giving me a few minutes of your time and I pray that God blesses your life and you find your time with Him speaking to your heart.
