Memory Tshirt Quilts

Three quilts for a customer who lost her husband. It was such an honor to make these for her.
She wanted to have an extra quilt so she requested the backs of Tshirts and sweatshirts with a blue fabric for the border. It turned out really pretty. I used a patterned fabric for this one since the shirts were all plain.
She chose two tone on tone blues for the other two quilts. then I took that matching fabric and used it for the binding of the opposite quilt.
She loved them so much and gave an excellent review on my ETSY page.

Fathers Memory Quilt

While I was in the hospital with my husband orders started to come in through my ETSY page
I was so incredibly thankful for the Lords immediate provision as we tried to figure out how we were going to manage with him out of work for 3 months. I wrote customers immediately and explained there would be a delay and why. They were all so incredible about the circumstances and still placed orders.
This quilt was with a father's clothing who had passed. I love the patriotic flannel backing.

Memory Quilt with Embroidery and Pillow Shams

This quilt contains a mother's sweatshirts and one embroidery block since we were short one square
The daughter saw a hummingbird the day of the funeral, so we used that as our theme.
She wanted something also for her daughters, so I made three extra pillow shams.
I tried to take a couple of special pieces from the bottoms of some of the sweatshirt fronts.
She chose a denim flannel for the back. It has a leaf print.
I even used a couple of collars for pieces in the pillow shams
There was a vest so I used the inner and outer layers to add some character
I sent photos to her and she was just in awe. I think she will really treasure all of these keepsakes.

Poppies Quilts

This order started with an idea to make 6 quilts, it then grew to 8 and by the time I was finished I was able to create 11 of them. They are a little smaller with only 20 pieces and are roughly 45 by 50 finished.
I tried to put a pocket or two from shirts in each quilt.
Each Quilt had a label on the back that either read Poppie or Dad
They contained a few pairs of pants as well as shirts
She chose all the same fabrics front, back and binding.
There was one shirt that was highly important, it was a work shirt. I made sure each quilt had at least one piece of this polo.
Its never easy to loose a loved one.
There are days we truly just want them with us. There are so many events that continue in our lives and they are no longer a part of those. These quilts allow healing to begin.
Often you can see a shirt and remember a vacation, sunday church service or special event.
It gives us something to hold onto until it is time to meet again one day.
Parents and Children are difficult looses for sure. I love how the labels looked similar to handkerchiefs.
What is nice about these quilts is they are so universal. Even though they contain the same clothing they truly are unique one from another.
I am thankful the Lord brings customers to my doorstep, allows me to be part of this journey of healing, joy and love in their lives.
It was an honor to create 11 quilts and celebrate the life of Poppie/Dad.

Memorial Quilts for Poppie aka Dad

I cut all the clothing very carefully for this order. At first we talked about 6 quilts. She mentioned if I had enough maybe we could do 7, upon cutting and stabilizing I knew we could do at least 8. I wrote to let her know. Once it was stacked into piles per quilt I realized I could make 11 quilts. How amazing. She will be able to provide quilts for some grandchildren, not just the wife and siblings. I am grateful for guidance as I make these quilts. Sometimes what seems impossible truly becomes a blessed memory in a extra quilt or two, in this case four.

Wallhanging and Pillow Cases

This utilized pieces from 11 dresses and then some embroidery panels.
I cut a small block from each dress to create the quilt and then used remaining fabrics for the pillow cases.
Each one is slightly different, this one I used the buttons
Each dress became a keepsake for a family member
I added a little heart from another dress to make this one a little more special
This one had a cute pocket so I used it for the dress by appliqueing it.
I took the bottom ruffle of this dress and created a pocket for it.
This one I utilized the cute ruffle near the bottom of the dress.
