Jewels for Quilting Customers

This is a quilt for a customer that I had last Christmas. She is a friend of a local teacher I had worked with. She ordered a quilt but told me to put it at the very end of my list as orders came in this summer. I told her about my machine issue, extra orders that came in after hers, she wasn't worried, she kept letting me delay her order. This one required a bit more work then normal. Some of the shirts were in rough shape. There were three tanks that really had to be rearranged with pieces of blank shirt backs.
I am super thankful for understanding people. She still asks how he is doing, prays for him etc. I have two other orders from her. I am truly grateful.
I still absolutely love this fabric. It is so pretty~

Graduation Quilt with School Skirt

My Customer chose a royal blue fabric for her quilt
She had a grade school skirt that she wanted to use as a block.
There were three shirts with collars that needed some assistance to create some squares.
She chose the same basic color blue flannel backing and I found a multi color blue fabric to make the handmade cotton binding.

Local Grad Quilt

Local Graduation Quilt
Had two bandanna type towels to use from foot ball games
They were different sizes so I framed them with fabric to have them work
We used black flannel for the backing

Blue Bird Beauty

Blue Birds remind me of my Grandma Marge. I saw two at her celebration of life on the fountain and ever since then I think of her when seeing another. This one came to my front window on Mother's Day, then again yesterday for MeKenzei's Birthday.
Couldn't have picked two more perfect times to appear
He is super quick though and hard to get photos of. I hope he keeps coming by. He has a friend just like the Wood pecker and I can't seem to get photos of both at the same time.

Graduation Quilt Girly Style

I was a little nervous when we went with pink fabric for this quilt. There were so many bright colors.
Once it was finished it showed how much it truly worked. There was pink in some of the shirts and since the bedroom of this graduate is pink and gray I think it will tie in nicely.
I love this jersey shirt. I was able to keep the V Neck unattached across the orange fabric.
There was a little portion at the bottom of the shirt that she also wanted to keep. It worked perfectly to applique it directly onto the shirt square.

Retirement Quilt for Principal

I absolutely love teachers and principals. I think we are truly blessed to have people who step up to take on these jobs. Helping to raise other parents children is a huge task and so much work.
I am always honored to create quilts for principals that are retiring. I wish there was a way to offer these for free. I think it is a wonderful way for them to have a keep sake of something from their school to cherish with them for the rest of their lives.
I was able to do some extras on this one, like adding a logo from a front of a shirt to this square
Combining the front and back of this shirt into one square. It represented that years shirt better.
Another block with a front logo added to the back of the quilt. I pray that this principal loves the gift from the teachers at WestHoff Elementary.

Graduation Quilt with Tie Dye

I love tie dyed shirts, they really add fun to quilts
Taking pictures with so many colors is sometimes an issue with glare
The back flannel was such an amazing blue color. I wish I had been able to buy more

Quilt Tops and Weekend Projects

Pez Candy Quilt top finished. This customer came to me with a quilt project her and her mom were working on together. The Pez candy was something that her and her son have in common. Her mother has passed away and she decided she would hire me to do the task. She said her mother was an avid quilter so I sure hope my quilt will meet the test. I would not call my self avid. I am still learning for sure.
This was another quilt top I finished this weekend. I love this story too. Its a valentines gift that a girl friend is giving her boyfriend. What a sweet gift with all his shirts!

Jakob Senior Photo Take Two

We had taken Jakob to lunch and saw this cute place near where we were eating that was abandoned, so I took about 8 pictures and two turned out really good. We hope to keep getting a few more really good shots so that I can make his graduation announcements from them.
I love this one..

Zekaryah's Quilt

I finally finished my son's Birthday gift from January which then became a Valentines Day gift, and then an Easter gift.. even that was late. It is a twin size quilt with 12 Tshirts

He picked out the green mossy water fabric and my husband and I found the green tree moss flannel for the back. We combined the layers with a handmade cotton blue binding because that is his second favorite color. He loves the quilt and can't wait to use it tonight.

Thinking of my Parents today

Today is my parent's wedding anniversary. It is a day like today when I really wished I did not live hundreds of miles from my dad. I wish I could take him to lunch and make him smile since I know his heart has to hurt a little as does mine. My mom has been gone almost two years now, some days are still not very easy.

My mom loved my dad like no other. They sure had so many obstacles in their marriage. I am so thankful to have had such a wonderful example of how to FIGHT for your marriage and how much work it is. Its the little things like my dad kissing my mom every morning before he left for work and every evening when he got home that I will always remember and hold onto.

I wish I had a better picture of this moment. It was the last time we spent time with my parents as a family, the kids would see them one more time for Christmas a couple years later..

This is our last full family photo...look at these very little kids, who are now nearly all in their teens. Amazing how quickly time goes by.

I am so thankful for all three trips they made to Texas, at the birth of each one of my children.

I am thankful for this trip that I took with them as an adult, while I lived with them for six months in 2006.

I am thankful for the gatherings in their home, even if I was miles away, that brought my mom such joy.

This is the middle of the quilt that I buried with my mom. One of her favorite verses. While we remember her today, and celebrate the love that her and my dad had/have for one another, we have a little sadness but we will always rejoice for she is in heaven with our Lord and family that has left before us.
