Window Units and Bedroom Arrangements

Installing a New Window Unit was necessary in the Loft area. Both the boys will share this space that is about 5 foot tall in the center of the room, going down to 2.5 foot or so at the edges. Having two boys in this space meant they needed a stronger unit to keep it cool for the summer months.
Of course it would be easy to pull the old unit out and put a new one in right? If only..
This unit was just a bit wider and quite a bit taller, that meant cutting out more wall space and re-framing it some.
My husband had a hard time getting it in but once it was in, the rest was easy.
Great stuff is awesome. It really helps keep it secure and we didn't have to screw the unit into the surrounding wood.
A nail gun is awesome. This is a new investment for us and really has helped with projects like this one. Reattaching the exterior wood was pretty easy.
Then he just needed to cut new pieces of wood for the border around the outside and the inside. We can't seem to find the matching paint but that will have to be on our agenda soon. We learned outside wood does much better once painted or treated.
The inside wall looks great. We need to actually run electrical to the room. Right now it runs off an electrical cord. Hopefully this is something we can tackle over the summer.

Spring Cleaning My Daughters Room

My daughter and I have a different version of what clean is. She stacks things- I do this also but there comes a point where you just have to get in there and get it cleaned. The trash bag is clothes I had cleaned over the weekend that are all nicely folded but I couldn't begin to know where to put them away for her.
We had the boys bring all the containers to my room that had clothes in them. I sorted them into piles on my quilting tables and then filled her buckets. I would still like her to go through them and decide if things are too big or two small or if she doesn't like them. We were given clothes from several people this year and it has created a tad of chaos, unless she makes some decisions. Its hard in such a small room to really keep everything and she has no closet space since there is a washer and dryer in that portion of her room so it must ALL fit under the bed to some degree.
She still has quite a bit of work to do. I am hoping that I at least gave her a head start and maybe some motivation.
It will be nice when the room is clean because then I can get in there to take measurements for curtains, paint her vanity etc.

New Renovations in Store

I wanted to find a vanity for my daughter for her birthday. She had a little sewing table that I wasn't using but it didn't have any storage options. Someone in my neighborhood was giving this away and I am going to fix it up for her later next month, when things calm down. She wants it to be white with turquoise drawers. She wants me to find wolf pulls, drawer knobs for it and make a wolf fabric seat cushion for the foldable chair. We have a piece of mirror that my husband will frame for the wall that his brother in law gave us. What a great early birthday find.
