HomeTown Tourist for Magnolia Texas

I was raised in California, but upon meeting my husband 21 years ago, nearly 22, we moved to his Home state of Texas. We have lived in several cities around the Houston area but have had our home here in Magnolia, Texas for nearly 10 years. I love all its hometown feel and personality.
Our town has some of the cutest Boutiques such as Daphney's.
She carries an array of merchandise from clothing and gift items/housewares. I love the location of her store.
It is what our town calls the Magnolia Stroll. It has several shops and food location

It opens up for city events such as Renaissance through the Stroll, Corks and Canvas, Hometown Christmas, Depot Days etc.  Now truthfully isn't this the cutest little porch area, she sells these little benches made from bed frames, they are darling.
Our town is not just about food though, its about giving back, this weekend for 9/11 the county commissioner and another group hosted a lunch for first responders to show our appreciation for all they do. Recently they held a Flag Retirement Ceremony and BBQ for Veterans Day to honor members who have served. We have a Hometown Christmas Parade and Event hosted by the Chamber of Commerce and our Magnolia Historical Society. There seems to always be an event to go to which celebrates people, is helping someone in some way or is just for entertainment.
There are so many ways to get involved from local organizations that truly give back, to so many churches. I think the most unique event was this summer when they held a Men and Women in Blue to support our officers. We need more towns like this in America.
We have an another restaurant that is called La Magnolia it is amazing. It serves Italian food and it is often a date night on Wednesdays while the kids are at church. You can get a Italian dish from the menu, salad, bread, and dessert for $10. Its so much food we always take the dessert home.

One we visit on Sunday mornings for dates is called Kitty's.
She is open for breakfast and lunch and has the best little menu.
I personally go there for breakfast.

I love our little town of Magnolia, Texas

New Year's Eve

May 2016 be full of blessings for you and your family.
We enjoyed a night of fried food, our yearly tradition. We had to eat a little at a time and downsize what we are cooking since the weather turned to a little bit of rain.
After eating we enjoyed a couple of hands of UNO
Zekaryah won the first hand.
Mekenzei won the second- during the second hand Izzy got this blank card, we all laughed. Didn't even realize there was one in the deck.

Thankful Thursday

Wow what a thankful week I have had.
Sunday morning my middle son made me boiled eggs for breakfast. They were the best boiled eggs. Made me realize it is time to invest into his cooking skills. They were like my grandmas boiled eggs, nice and soft in the middle, yet with a medium set.
Monday the kids had off school, I decided to not volunteer and spent the entire day with them. I worked on a quilt while they were busy doing their thing then enjoyed the afternoon watching a movie in my bed with our daughter. I love moments like that. At the age of 12 I am thankful to still have them.
Tuesday my oldest son helped with wash and dishes since I had a very busy day trying to finish up said quilt from Monday. I wanted to mail it Tuesday afternoon. I was so thankful for his help. He is an amazing child. So busy with his own classes but always finds the time to help when I need it. He even made me a pan of brownies this week which I needed!
I got an amazing blog overhaul by Traci at Ordinary Inspirations she also has a facebook page
So what do you think?
I really do love it!!!

Yesterday my husband brought home these. I had a rough day, been dealing with these terrible headaches and some pain in the tissue areas of my chest.
I will admit if I had not just gone in for my Mammogram a few months ago I would be very worried. I did have to go back for the ultrasound but it came back fine. I am still going to watch these spots though. I appreciate my husband listening to my concerns and being so thoughtful.
Today I got the biggest blessing of all. A friend called and said she had made a trip to Sams and wanted me to come by and get some things from her that we could share. WOW is all I can say. The Lord is so amazing!!!
I have been eying the pork loin sales for a while, but they had not come down enough yet, she provided just that and had no idea! You know the Lord surely does move into other peoples lives to help us when we seem to really need it the most. For that I am ever grateful. Quilt sales have been slow but twice now this friend has given us food. Something to think about...

Menu Planning Monday

This week might be a little busy, between projects for school, cleaning the house and quilting/work- there will not be much time. So I am looking for easy- I think.

Monday-
We have some left over mashed potatoes from last nights dinner- so reheat/make some brown gravy- serve with Pork Chops on the stove top griddle-yellow squash and crescent rolls. Left over cheesecake for dessert
Tuesday-
Cheese and Chicken Enchiladas, Refried Beans, Spanish Rice
Wednesday-
Waffles with Blackberries and Whip Cream, Sausage Links and Bacon
Thursday-
Make your Own French Bread Pizzas
Friday-
BBQ Hamburgers and Hotdogs- Movie Night
Saturday-
Bean and Cheese Burritos, Quesadillas.
Sunday-
Baked Potatoes with Veggies

On our Pizza Night we have a really good time- We just take some French Bread- I put the sauce on everyone's pizza then I lay out toppings in bowls to choose from.
Pepperoni, Ham, Pineapple, Black Olives, Green Olives, Mushrooms, Moz Cheese, Parmesan Cheese, Roma Tomatoes
It is nice to do a meal like this because everyone can make it their own way. Of course my oldest will still just want Spaghetti instead of Pizza, but I don't mind.

A Bible verse to leave you with-
"What do you want me to do for you" Luke 18:41
Sometimes we need to ask others what they need not assume it, even Jesus asked here in Luke.
So what makes us think that we should know everything our friends, spouses or children may need. Sometimes what we do for them may not be what they need for that moment- imagine if we took the time to ask. We may meet a need that they have asked God for- you just never know. Something to think about this week.
