Christmas 2015

So I am a year behind in posting. I want to still put all of it up on my Blog but not sure there is a back button for time posting..

Xmas Eve this year we gave fleece pants and robes, both were very needed
First year of Jakob away at school. It is great to have him home a whole month.
This girly missed her brother
Stockings, there is always so much excitement about them. Even hatchet wants to know what is inside them.
Honey- I love honey its great with tea and its my favorite morning drink
There are some photos you treasure, this is one for sure. I can't wait to see what he creates with this!
Jakob owned a kindle but he needed one with larger capacity and its a must with college life. We don't provide our children with smart phones so a kindle is perfect for a internet ready campus.
This girly loves to take photos, sometimes she wishes she had more time to take even more. A camera seemed the perfect gift. Of course we would learn that this is a very limited camera.
Family time its the most precious Christmas gift. I love it so much~

Christmas Quilt and a Memorial Quilt for a Fallen Officer

My son has a best friend in football. They had collected some shirts and I made this quilt up for Christmas
The fabric is truly unique, it reminds me of a volcano and lava
I love the combination of colors in all the shirts and the little logos too
He really loved the quilt
Every once in a while I get an order that really means something to someone. This one I decided to do as a donation quilt. It is for a daughter of a fallen officer, requested by her grandmother, his mother.
It was an unusual request and harder I learned to cut a uniform up. It just didn't quite feel right, knowing the honor that goes with the pants, shirts etc.
I love the creativity of this quilt. I had never made one before.
We didnt have much so we added photographs to make it memorable
One of the shirts had his photograph. I combined the bottom of the shirt with the back of the uniform dress shirt to create a block
I know it is well loved
I pray that it provides comfort
I am so grateful for all those that serve our country, community and for all they do.

Memory Quilts

I am thankful to be chosen for these type of quilts every time I receive an order. I absolutely love this orange flannel it is so cheerful

They are so unique and special and I often truly find some wonderful fabrics for them.
My favorite is mens shirts with pockets, they are so neat, I appliqued these onto jeans for the blocks.
I also love contrasting binding
Each quilt contains similar items yet has its own fabrics, border, backing and binding
This one had a very colorful chevron backing. It was perfect in every way.

Dinner Out Work Christmas Party

Its rare to get time out with one another, we truly are busy with all the jobs, kids etc that we do. I was thankful for a night out with his work. It was a great way to spend time together and celebrate Christmas

Theater Christmas Quilt

Sometimes I get shirts and see something amazing in them.
I requested the right to put something together that was a little different than she planned
Her daughter loved it. I was able to capture quite a bit more of the tshirts with combining some blocks together and having some fronts and backs instead of the 15 blocks she had planned
